چکیده

Aliphatic alcohols of chain lengths of 24–34 carbons have been found to be beneficial in treating hypercholesterolemia. Approximately 40% of beeswax is long-chain esters which can be transesterified in supercritical carbon dioxide to give these alcohols and fatty acid methyl esters. The methanolysis reaction was catalyzed by an immobilized lipase from Candida antarctica in flowing supercritical carbon dioxide and the alcohols were then isolated from the fatty acid methyl esters by precipitation from heptane. The alcohols were found in the following percentages: tetracosanol, 9.1; hexacosanol, 14.0; octacosanol, 18.4; triacontanol, 37.2; dotriacontanol, 21.1; tetratriacontanol, 0.3. The utility of the method was demonstrated by isolating fatty alcohols from jojoba oil and a mixture of triglycerides and waxes isolated from corn b ©

Changes in Enzyme Efficiency During Lipase-Catalyzed Hydrolysis of Canola Oil in a Supercritical Bioreactor

Enzyme efficiency was investigated in the lipase-catalyzed hydrolysis of canola oil in supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO2). Immobilized lipase from Mucor miehie (Lipozyme IM) was used as the catalyst and the results showed that enzyme efficiency dropped at high pressures indicating a possible change in enzyme microstructure. Therefore, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used...

Syntheses of enantiopure aliphatic secondary alcohols and acetates by bioresolution with lipase B from Candida antarctica.

The lipase B from Candida antarctica (Novozym 435®, CALB) efficiently catalyzed the kinetic resolution of some aliphatic secondary alcohols: (±)-4-methylpentan-2-ol, (±)-5-methylhexan-2-ol, (±)-octan-2-ol, (±)-heptan-3-ol and (±)-oct-1-en-3-ol. The lipase showed excellent enantioselectivities in the transesterifications of racemic aliphatic secondary alcohols producing the enantiopure alcohols ...

Prediction of the adsorption capability onto activated carbon of liquid aliphatic alcohols using molecular fragments method

Quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) for estimating the adsorption of aliphatic alcohols onto activated carbon were developed using substructural molecular fragments (SMF) method. The adsorption capacity of activated carbon (gr/100grC) for 150 aliphatic alcohols onto activated carbon (AC) is studied under equilibrium conditions. Forward and backwards stepwise regression variable ...

Selective aerobic oxidation in supercritical carbon dioxide catalyzed by the H5PV2Mo10O40 polyoxometalate.

Selective aerobic oxidation of benzylic alcohols and of activated aromatic hydrocarbons occurs in supercritical CO2 as reaction medium using H5PV2Mo10O40 as a quasi-heterogeneous catalyst without further additives or co-solvents; efficient recycling is possible and no metal leaching is detectable in the product stream.
